We are a humble family from At-Tuffah in Gaza — a family that, like many others, was simply trying to live in dignity, raise our children, and build a better future together. Life was never easy, but we held on to each other, working hard and dreaming big.
Then the war changed everything.
Our son, Mohammed, a young man full of life, was the backbone of our family. He worked tirelessly to support us — and to help his younger brother, Ahmed, pursue his dream of becoming an engineer. Ahmed is currently enrolled in MIT’s SPOCs educational program and working hard toward a brighter future. But one tragic day, as Mohammed was returning from work, an artillery shell exploded near him without warning. He suffered a devastating spinal injury that left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down. In an instant, he went from being our provider to someone fully dependent on others for even the simplest needs.
Since then, our family has been struggling to survive — emotionally, physically, and financially. After medical examinations and scans, the doctors gave Mohammed horrific news: a fracture in his spine at the third vertebra, which had damaged his spinal cord, resulting in permanent paralysis in his lower body.
Imagine waking up one day unable to move your legs… needing help with the simplest tasks… and going from others depending on you to you being completely dependent on them.
Today, we need your support — not only to help Mohammed recover, but to help our entire family move forward. Your donation will help us cover: ⚕️ Mohammed’s physical therapy, medical treatment, and rehabilitation A medical wheelchair, electric neurostimulation device, and a special bed ✈️ The cost of traveling abroad for specialized treatment, if possible Basic living needs: food, medicine, daily essentials for the family Educational expenses for Ahmed, who is studying engineering and represents our hope for the future Estimated total need: ~$25,000
Every contribution — no matter the size — helps restore hope, dignity, and stability to our home. Your kindness will support a young man fighting to reclaim his independence… and a younger brother determined to complete his education and help rebuild what’s been lost.
From a family facing the unimaginable, we thank you deeply for your compassion and support. You are helping us heal. You are helping us have hope and dignity again… ❤️
Update 1: 08/04/2025
From Ahmed, Mohammed’s brother: “He is receiving physical therapy, with a doctor coming to our home for paid sessions, in addition to weekly hospital visits for further treatment. He continues to suffer from malnutrition due to the limited availability of healthy food for our family, which has led to weakened muscles to the point that he struggles to balance and walk. Providing basic food and drink is a continuous struggle, especially as my older sister, who is a widow, lives with us with her children—including a baby who cannot get the milk and food he needs, leaving him extremely undernourished. Her other child also has severe malnutrition and receives regular hospital care and medical guidance.”
